We use a consistent format on our applications so customers are confident in completing the information requested.
Sections are organized so customers can intuitively find information and access it in the least amount of time.
We use numbering for each step of our instructions packets so our customers intuitively understand the order of events.
We use consistent sentence structures. For example, we always use a phrase when we need to tell our customer where to start. The rest of the time, we start each sentence with a verb where it is helpful to our customers.
We abbreviate simple sequences by using right angle bracket (">") so customers can scan information fast.
For example:
Before Filing Section > Last Input Field > Add Signature
We add visual cues so our customers instantly know what to do and what comes next
For example
Color, form, depth and movement in visual aids such as pictures, photograhs or objects that provide our customers with information about how to assemple the final version of the application prior to submiting it to immigration authorities.
We add the most updated addresses to our instruction packets so our customers know where to send their immigration applications.
We limit the number of steps to 10 steps, and preferably fewer.
When a question is vague or could lead to several interpretations, we always try to include an explanation with examples to reduce the risk of reaching the wrong interpretation.
If the instruction appears in the same page as the action occurs, we provide location details.
When we need to make sure our customers begin in the right place, we provide a brief phrase at the beginning of the step.
